I couldn't agree with you anymore Alan. Victor Frankl's MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING IS A MUST READ.

I began chapter 2 of my book: RESCUE THYSELF: Change In Sub-Saharan Africa Must Come From Within with reference and quotes from the book.

This includes the sentence you referenced: "The more one forgets himself …………………… the more he actualizes himself. Just as insightful is the sentence before that explaining "the transcendence of human existence".

"It denotes the fact that being human always points and is directed to something or someone other than oneself — be it a meaning to fulfill or another human being to encounter".

It is the absence of the sense of this "transcendence of human existence" that is the cornerstone of most of the injustice, wars and calamities in our broken world.

Thanks Alan for bringing this monumental piece by Dr. Frankl to readers' attention again.
