This is a very fascinating topic, at least in the ongoing quest for the true and exact time of "total" cessation of all brain activities. While skeptics may dismiss the original article as scientific clickbait trash, NDE reminds us that the late Sir John Carew Eccles (1903 - 1997), 1963 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine was spot on when he wrote in his book, The Understanding of The Brain, (1972):
In the Preface:
"We are only at the beginning of this —study of the brain — the most wonderful adventure that man can undertake, since its aim is to understand man. As I have questioned: How far will it be possible for us using our brains to understand our brains"?
In chapter 1:
"We are still at a very early stage of our attempt to understand the brain, which may well be the last of all the frontiers of knowledge that man can attempt to penetrate and encompass. I predict that it will occupy hundreds of years into the future".
I have been fortunate to participate in the workings of this 1.4 kg. crown jewel of creation —the human brain -- and I completely agree with Prof. Eccles.
